Bowtell Music: Bringing Music to Everyone

At Bowtell Music, we’re passionate about sharing the joy of music with all members of the community. Over the years, we’ve been actively involved in musical outreach, often performing in care homes where we engage residents through live music and encourage them to join in singing.
This work is deeply rewarding—many residents who may find verbal communication difficult can connect and express themselves through music in powerful ways.

We offer workshops and concerts in residential settings, available as one-off visits or ongoing series. These sessions can be fully interactive, inviting residents to play along with small percussion instruments that we provide.

Some of our projects have been run in partnership with the Royal Northern College of Music—examples of which are detailed below.

Covid-19
The Musical Care Box: Bringing Joy During the Pandemic

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Bowtell Music created the Musical Care Box — a special letter-sized package sent to care homes and individuals nominated by their friends and families. These recipients were often vulnerable people feeling isolated and alone during an exceptionally difficult time.

Each box contained a DVD concert, featuring home-recorded performances from professional musicians across the country. These recordings were carefully edited together to create a full-length concert for recipients to enjoy from the safety of their own homes.
Alongside the DVD, the boxes included comforting treats like biscuits, tea, chocolates, and a personalised note — small gestures designed to uplift spirits and remind recipients that they were thought of and cared for.

The Musical Care Box was a meaningful way to use music to connect and bring comfort when it was needed most.
