Lucy-Rose has been passionately teaching since 2010. In her gap year she taught cello, piano, voice, recorder and violin in three schools as well as privately. She has coached her children through ABRSM theory exams and practical exams with 100% success and she has also prepared children for music scholarships – all of whom have successfully gained scholarships to their chosen schools. Lucy-Rose has also undergone training to become an ABRSM music medal examiner, and takes these medals with her younger pupils.
Lucy-Rose has a desire to bring music to all people from all walks of life. Due to her enthusiasm for sharing her love of music, she travelled to Hungary in order to inspire the children attending holiday camps there, as well as to teach them English. Lucy-Rose also visits care homes with her cello in order to play to the residents and get them to join in by singing or playing percussion instruments with her. Lucy-Rose has tutored cello, as well as other string instruments, on music camps, including residential music courses at Uppingham School.
Lucy-Rose currently commutes from Manchester to Copthill School, Lincolnshire, once a week in order to teach the cello on a one to one basis as well as taking group lessons. She set up group lessons in September 2016 in order to give more children the chance to learn a new instrument and get to understand more about music. Lucy-Rose aims to make her lessons fun and engaging as well as giving all her pupils the musical knowledge they need to further their musical studies.
Lucy-Rose writes music tailored to individual pupils and emphasizes the importance of playing in a group situation, making sure that all her pupils are in an ensemble. Once a year Lucy-Rose spends a term working on a mass cello ensemble involving all of her students where they work on a piece to play in a concert.
Lucy-Rose is currently in the process of writing a cello tutor book for beginners based on the teaching method that she has developed over the time she has been teaching.
Lucy-Rose has written and arranged music for various musical ensembles for concerts and productions - to learn more about these projects click the link below.
